FSK Gateway Location (L2)
Introduction
FSK gateway location works the same way as BLE gateway location (L1) but over an FSK link: the device signals Amazon Sidewalk, which resolves the device’s position from the receiving gateway’s known position. It is used when the device reaches a gateway over FSK rather than BLE.
How the Cloud Resolves the Fix
An FSK gateway fix is resolved from the receiving gateway’s known position, using the same gateway-location path described for BLE gateway location (L1): gateway position lookup and the same validation. The difference from L1 is the link the device used to reach the gateway, not the cloud resolution itself.
There is no FSK-specific resolution path. A LoRa uplink is multilaterated and a device reported by several gateways is clustered, but any other single-gateway uplink, including an FSK gateway fix, is resolved from that one gateway’s position. FSK therefore shares L1’s cloud behavior.
Accuracy and Constraints
- Requires an FSK link to a Sidewalk gateway.
- Accuracy is gateway-granularity, as with L1: the fix is the gateway’s known position, not a measured device position.
